Backgrounds on Kenwood 7029
I`ve just got a DDX 7029 and the ipod cable, so how do I upload pictures/backgrounds to the unit? When I go into user setup and interface the ability to change from the default is greyed out
Cheers

Can't answer your question sorry, but I've been looking at one of these units today, they look very nice indeed, are you pleased with yours at the moment (bar the query you have).
Do you have a picture of it in your car you could post up?, I have been quoted £599-99 is that a similar price to what you paid.
Thanks
Daz.

Hi mate
I`m absolutely chuffed to bits with mine The missus got the head unit, component front door speakers and the Ipod cable (to go with the Ipod Touch she got me )
The sound quality is superb and the unit looks the mutts in the car. Dunno the price but she said she got a great deal from Colchester Car Radio who supplied and fitted.
I think the background picture thing is to do with the Ipod using the usb port but at the end of the day its the sound that counts.

Oh my god, didn't see your location earlier, the guy in the shop said he had fitted one in a scooby for a lady, and he said she was supprised how much this head unit done. Done some searching on the net for them and have found a price of £479 inc P+P, i'll see if they can match the price!.
It looks fantastic in the car. I'll also keep an eye out for your car.

That was my missus she did it on Christmas Eve, then on Christmas Day gave me a couple of empty boxes and the digital camera with pics of the install....I had on my boat for the rest of the day.
They did her a great deal.

Nice pressie!.
I have no i-pod at the mo, it would'nt matter if I never got one would it?, although I can see the pluses with this unit in having one.
What speakers did have have installed (fronts and Rears)?

Ipod isn`t a must, just burn mp3s to dvd The speakers are Kenwood P707s just in the front but the sound quality is superb. I suppose its down to individual choice but they didn`t steer her wrong.

I currently have the ddX 6029 and standard speakers.
But i have just ordered Kenwood P707s and a DNX 7200
As seen here
Kenwood Electronics UK Ltd. | Navigation > DNX7200
and
Redline Magazine
MP3s to dvd is the way to go. I'll never need an Ipod with 4.7GB of tunes per disk. I use a DVD-R/W so i change them all the time on the one disk.
EDIT:
And does anyone know why my pics dont auto load :| yours do mine dont lol

Ok sussed it and googled it to death but here it is....if you have an Ipod Touch this won`t work, something to do with its OS.
I used this link Using your iPod as a storage drive and just cpoied the jpegs to the root directory, all i`ve got to do now is suss out how to make the picture full screen.
I also found eventually that you need to upgrade the HU`s software to get the Touch to properly display album artwork.
Hope this helps.

I followed this link Kenwood Corporation / firmware updater and then used my old Ipod mini as a pen drive/usb storage device, put the file in the root directory, went to software version screen on HU and clicked on update....it takes awhile to do so unlike me dont panic that you screwed it up.

greatest headunit ever.. i use the 7200 myself.
you can also put pics on a usb stick and upload them from that.
afaik the only way to get full screen is to manually resize the pic on the pc untill it is of the correct dimensions
bloody love mine tho, never ever gonna sell it

If using a USB stick is there a socket at the front of the unit to load weekly (if needed) or do you have to have a cable from the back of the unit and have it fed through somewhere?
