Just trying my first bit of DIY on my MY00 Scoob 4dr by replacing the pile-of-poo that is the standard ICE.
I've fitted the new head unit fine but when I come to try an remove the rear parcel shelf ( after consulting Chiark's FAQ ) it seems well stuck under the plastic either side of the rear window. Is there any way to easily get the parcel shelf off so I can get at the speaker mounting ?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Rob

Its been a while since I did it but I think I had to bend it up in the middle to pop it out from under the plastic at each side!!

I removed the plastic on one side, if you stress the plastic it will give you a white streak, they are only cliped on so pull away.

I took the plastic off around the side window on one side aswell. Wouldn't want to risk snapping the rear shelf.

There are four clips holding the shelf down.

Rob, it is probably sealed to the window/rubber with glue/mastic, you may have to run a trimming knife around the edge... scary huh

I remember this (with a Scooby rear seat in the lounge!!!) and there's no way I want to do it again....

Aanyway, after you've got the seats out and thought that it's turning into a proper rally car (you have to have the seats out to know what I mean), you need to prise to plastic away from the sides on the rear pillars - there's some strong clips holding it against the body (you may have to remove the plastic running along the side by the back doors: a screw and some clips each side???)
Once the pillar plasic is pulled away (you'll hear the clips click), you can remove the shelf - It's got sealant all round the window so a knife is handy. I think there are six black clips - you can release them from inside the boot - to save damaging the (cardboard??) shelf. bend the shelf slightly in the middle to ease the edges from under the rear pillar plastic.

Keep fingers crossed, get angry and use some brute force. When you put it back in, no-one will know that you broke some of the clips getting it out

PS Infinitys with the sticky outy tweeter barely fit under the standard covers
