Default ipod users...

i recently left my job and my former colleagues (a very nice bunch of people) bought me an ipod [with a suitable inscription on the back!]. anyway, i would like to connect it via my dvd player head unit and presume i could buy an "ipod-connection-ended cable with component plugs on the other end [ie all three, not just the sound outputs].

is anyone using such a cable? or know where i can lay my hands on one - this seems to be an unusual request according to the usual "experts" in high street stores!

TIA

Depends upon what headunit you have mate, most of the named headunits supply their own iPod connectors, such as Kenwood, Alpine etc..

Usual cost of a lead is between £10-20.

As above, I bought a Sony one for £15 and its the business.

Controls the Ipod from the hu and charges it at the same time.

thanks JH - went to maplin, tried the video cable but it didn't work, so i thought sod it and went with teh audio only cable via the CC changer input on the back of my HU.

very impressed - i had been using the dvd player with mp3's on dvd, but i already have 20GB of music on the ipod plus loads of podcasts, so i'm a happy bunny now

thank for your input - mine is a cheap hu i bought from ebay (altough i have seen people selling it for about £100 more than i paid in ICE shops). all worked out in the end - although this does reinforce my "now i appreciate the in car dvd player, the next one i buy will be a branded one" train of thought
