Default Amp trouble

Hi,

I have a power amp with a remote power on input. This is connected to the head unit remote o/p. With the head unit switched on the amp kicks into life for a second and then off again, which continues in a cycle like this until the head unit is switched off. I have connected the positive supply from the batt connection on the amp direct to the remote i/p and it does the same (head unit disconnected from amp).

Whats going wrong. I don't have any amp instructions.

Just installed. Does the amp need the casing to be earthed?

no, you will have 3 cable ports apart from the speaker ones,
12v battery, rem remote, and neg earth, just make sure that the earth is bolted to a nice clean metal part of the chassis, usually seat belt anchor points are good,
is the amp brand new? secondhand?
etc etc

sound to me like the amp is the fault, the best way to test and best set up for the amp is have direct poss to the batt and direct earth to the batt you will get max power out of your amp this way.

OK, I'll try that but suspect the amp to be faulty. Is the remote just a 12v signal, which is stable?

Is it going into protect mode? Have you checked it over with a multimeter? Sounds like the amps gone IMO but check everything just incase. Have you tryed running the remote wire straight to a constant + feed?

Yep, it does the same on/off cycling I've not checked the fuses yet but I imagine they would be intact for it to work at all.
