Sound deadening in impreza's
#1
In relation to JonW's thread about DIY http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/Forum4/HTML/000629.html - has anyone used bj acoustics?
I got an email reply today about their cover and costs:-
'I offer two types of Sound Proofing for Imprezas
The first one is our Sound Barrier Kit which uses our top of the range Space
Layer materials
This covers
Under Bonnet
Bonnet Lid
Interior
Front Floors
Rear Floors
Under Rear Seat
Door Pads
Rear Section
Rear Wheel arches
Under Spare Wheel
Boot Floor
Boot Lid
This kit costs £150 including VAT carriage is £6
The second option is to use the same materials for the under bonnet and
interior items then use our NoiseKiller for the boot area. NoiseKiller
controls the vibration from the boot and helps to eliminate drumming and
noise from the exhaust.
This second option costs £230 but the kit is fitted completely by myself at
your home or workplace.
Give me a ring on 0161 643 8070 for further details on the kits

Taking all your clothes and shoes off might save weight also h.But it does not make the drive quieter and more relaxing. Also makes a door sound as if it has'nt been made out of Tin foil!!

Actually, it's pretty easy to do yourself (not the spraying one, though). It takes a while - 3 hours it took me - and there is a certain amount of seat removal, etc. although none of it hard. The trickiest bit is in the engine bay where there's some cleaning of really filthy bulkhead & a little skin-removal if you're not careful.
It might be worth getting it fitted - depends on where you are, as they charge for distance to get to you - turned out it would be very expensive for getting to London!

Nope. The stuff that goes under the carpets with the BJ Acoustics stuff is sound-proofing rather than the stuff that stops vibration, so it just sits on top of the black tarry gunk.

This sound deadening gear you are talking about well is it easy to put in yourself or should it be left to the expert
Sounds like a good idea.

Edited for being thick & not reading the 1st bit, think letting someone else do it sounds better.
