JBL Stuff!! What can I do...
Just started to play with the Ice in my01 wrx, I currently have a single speaker cracking in the back door.. its been years since I played with Car Stereo's infact the last time was in a A'reg Monego.. I got a brand new Kenwood tape player 2 huge subs and a legacy la 3000 amp... anyhoo that was 12 years ago.. and I have a messy scooby.
I have a few cut cables and no idea why nothing is working, other than a huge assumption that this car once had a amp or a different headunit and all the cabling has been removed...
Below are some links to pictures of whats going on in the drivers door..... the head unit is a Sony cdx-8800 which is quite nice, the cabling behind the door is a mess....
I think this is a passive crossover

Nicely Mounted speaker

Cable hidden behind my speaker
HUMYO.com - 07-07-07_2030
Cut cable near tweeter cover
HUMYO.com - 07-07-07_2033
No sound comes from these speakers, nothing I set on the head unit gets them going... am I best trying to run my own cables back to the headunit? running crying to an audio specialist? or sticking a meter on each cable and trying to start again.. bearing in mind I have no idea if these have ever worked...
Any advice would be great.....
Ian

Hey,
I just went for it in the end.. I cut out all the pointless cable, reconnected all the cables back together under the dash, replaced the waterproof fuse box under the bonet... once I found them and run new power, and RCA to the boot... not got a Sub Amp or the rear 6x9's sorted yet but I need to fron the right priced Amp and sub combo... but thats tomorrows job...
Now I have front and rear speakers all working perfectly with a nice sony head unit...
So cheer for all the advice and pm's all go... wait for me to moan about amps shortly...
lol while we are at it.. I need a amp that will take 2 seperate RCA pairs.. one pair for a sub other for the 2 6x9's.. better way of saying this is, do I need 2 amps one for a sub and one to run the 6x9's or can I get one to do the same job?? Also need the sub and box... advice anyone??
cheers
