Possibly very stupid question..

Hi,
The question is, what are the differences between CD changer inputs and normal line in inputs?
Is it possible to treat these CD changer inputs as a line in?
Cheers
Chris

Cheers Chiark.
The intention is to get a single disc CD head unit, and then at a later date plug in a portable mp3 player. Just wondered if a head unit with just a cd changer control would be sufficient.
Does anyone know of any makes where this is possible?

I'd look for one with a dedicated AUX input. I know that Kenwood take the approach of putting an aux input on their high-end cd-changers, not on the head unit itself.
Anyone with a Sony/Panasonic unit actually tried this? The problem is that if you haven't got a cd-changer attached, you can't select changer input...
