Got a wee problem, my HU (clarion) had it in since the car was nw, best part of 5 yrs. Last few days it has started to flicker with sound. The dispaly still powers up but theres no sound!, if you turn it off and on again then its ok for a short time and it goes off again.

Is the HU goosed and I need a new one, if so whats a good alround HU at the moment?

Used to be into all this ICE gear, but fell away from it.

Could be something simple like a poor connection behing the HU.

As for what to replace it with, how long is a piece of string?

My eldest swears by Alpine, I like Sony, I've heard good things about Blaupunkt, Kenwood, Clarion etc.

You'd need to get to an ICE dealer, Halfords etc and LOOK at some. No good having one that sounds greatm, but you hate the look of, so looks are a good starting point

After that, it's what do you want it to do? I've just replaced a Sony MD headunit with another Sony that plays MP3 and WMA discs, £89, off 'tinternet.
