Fixing head unit in place - how?
Well I've finally got round to replacing the OE stereo with a nice Alpine unit and have managed to wire it in correctly-ish. I have a small problem however in that the unit doesn't sit flush with the dash - it's about 1cm proud at the moment. If I push it it fits in fine but doesn't stay there - I guess due to the mass of cables crammed in behind. So how do I fix the unit in place? I've read all the usual FAQs/guides but no-one has detailed this yet...
Car is a MY99 UK Classic.
<Sidenote> I haven't got the radio working yet. I don't know which cable is the aerial - how do I tell? Oh and I have the Phillips CD changer fitted as well but want to rip this out - which cable is the for the changer?
Your help is appreciated...

Did you remove the "cage" for the OE unit and replace it with the one that (probably) came with your Alpine unit? If not, do it now. If so, the new unit should click into place.
If there seem to be a lot of cables behind it, I might be inclined to see if you can get them tidy, (push them back, to the sides etc, before fitting the headunit.
Sorry, can't offer any other advice.

I didn't get the cage (the unit is second hand) so have slotted it into the existing Subaru one. I guess this is where the problem lies then...can you buy them separately?

On mine I did not use the radio cage.
Instead I removed the left & right inner console brackets. Each bracket has various slots & holes. I used small screws & fixed each bracket to the side of the new radio & then fitted the radio with brackets attached back into the console area.
You can make adjustments to your fixing points so either the radio face is flush or slightly proud.
That is if you have the threaded holes on the side of your new stereo.
