It's some acronym for "direct resolution intensive vector enhancement", or some other tacky thing. It's designed to appeal to men in the same way that "pro-v 5" is designed to appeal to women - a marketing trick.
Saying that, the technology in my ears works and does improve sound over other Kenwood playback mechanisms. I have the KDC803 changer from around 5 years ago which was one of the first to use DRIVE, and the changer picked up all the awards going that year...
So, yes, I'd say it's worth it.
