Hi all, this will sound really dumb to alot of you, but i have a 99 impreza and i realise a good head unit is important if i want decent sound, but how do i know if the head unit in my car is the standard one? Does anyone have a photo of a standard cd player?

Am about to upgrade my speakers so want to make sure the head unit isnt going to make my new toys sound poopy.

Any help will be great, thanks.

Standard unit in UK classic cars was a Philips sourced radio/tape player.
No CD changer was fitted but one was avilable as an extra, again, Philips.

If you have a CD player, chances are it's NOT OE. Any makers name on it?

it is a Sony mp3 stereo, so i take it this isnt standard from your info, many thanks for that much appreciated.
