Here's a recommendation:

Bite the bullet, don't go for straight swop, get some 6x9's and make MDF spacers, then spend an afternoon fitting them.

It's NOT that hard, I did front, and back both with home-made MDF spacers, in a day.

Sony speakers come with a template which will help you make spacers. My rear ones are covered with black carpet from an ICE specialist.

Oh, and mine are Sony. I liked the sound when I did a blind test at Halfords, and still do

Try a search on here, IT friendly )

Spacers allow the chosen speakers, which may not be the correct size, and may not have the correct hole configuration, to fit to the existing holes without drilling, cuting new holes etc etc.

Mine were made from 18mm mdf, cut with a jigsaw, and the fronts were painted with undercoat, 3 coats to avoid damp problems.

To make the fronts I used the existing speakers as a template for the fitting holes, and the Sony template for the size and new hole configuration. The spacers are fitted to the doors with the OE screws, and the new speakers screwed to them with the supplied screws or some stainless equivalents that tap into the mdf.

For the rear, I used the Sony template for the inner hole, then cut them to a lozenge shape and bolted the whole lot down to the back parcel shelf after covering with cloth from an ICE dealer.

On my car, I removed the metal shapes from under the rear parcel shelf after removing the rear speakers, and I didn't have to remove the rear shelf to do it.

I then marked the new hole positions from undernerath and drilled. The spacers allow the new speakers to sit in the old holes without having to cut away any more of the parcle shelf material. Worst job was tightening the bolts, it's a two-man job
