Bad reception
Hi, hope somebody can help. I fitted a new cd Tuner and pocket in place of the double din unit in my 98 Wagon, fitted perfectly after a bit of work but I've got bad reception on the radio. All wires are connected and I tried another head unit but it's the same.
Hopefully someone can help.
Cheers

OK, was it working BEFORE you took the old unit out?
I don't know enough about radio reception, but is it possible that the aeriel isn't good enough for the new unit? (A bit like my TV at home: I had to buy a booster for the aeriel when I got a new TV, but the old TV worked fine )
Is it possible to buy a booster for it, like you can for a TV aeriel?
If it were me, I'd be contacting an ICE specialist.

Whell.. on myne (my94) when i got it someone had the not so clever idea of cutting the connector that linked to the original stereo and decided to bodge a standard iso connector with tape instead of just getting an adapter
I have since rectified this by replacing the tape with bullet connectors.
The aeriel at the back is a bee sting one and doint know if it would need some other wire connected to the unit in order to amplify.
There are still some wires from the original loom on the car that remain disconnected but since I have no schematics as to what they are I left them like so
The actual aeriel cable had also been cut being that there was no plug and i rectified this by going to a breakers yard and cutting one off a car and patched it in.
The stereo I have in there is a pioneer same as I also got on my other car and reception on that is flawless.
If no one here has some other ideas on this i do think it will be a trip to a specialist.
