MY 06 WRX type UK speakers / hifi
I finally the proud owner of a 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5 WRX Type UK Saloon in Crystal Grey a car i have wanted for many years
I have been the owner of many cars in my time and can honestly say that finally owning a Impreza WRX hasn't been a disapointment so far except for the awful standard fit stereo.
I know there is a FAQ section on how to improve things which has proved useful to me - but i want to know the following and can't seem to find it in the posts on here.
1) What is the actual diameter and depth of the original fit front & rear door speakers? - this is so i can assess if there are any decent replacement ones that will fit without spacers or mods of any type
can anyone recommend a good replacement?
2) I have read on here that just replacing the speakers won't help much but if the head unit is made by Kenwood it can't be that bad can it? - anyone know the output per channel?
Many thanks in anticipation
Kevj

The power is around 18W per channel apparently.
I can't help you with details of 'speakers which'll fit with no mods, try doing a search for focal slim or something as I seem to recall they're, er, slim.

Thanks for your reply
I mean't i have wanted a Scooby since the original turbo back in 99 - now i am older ! i can afford the insurance.
I am hoping for a trouble free ownership experience based on the fact the Scoob is made in Japan!
Many new cars you own are blighted with teathing troubles these days.
The WRX is a great car - It's just a shame they fit a bit of a lame stereo that's all - but i will sort it given some time
even if i resort to replacing all the speakers and the HU eventually!

Thanks for the pdf of your suggested system - something to aim for
do you run this setup in your scoob ?
i assume the sub is mounted in a ported box in the boot? and the front speakers need MDF spacers
gives me something to work towards!
