Default Classic Stereo Fitting

OK so it's back, re-engined special thanks to Special Scooby's Colchetser, the fitted stereo of choice was a Kenwood, not a fan and it doesn't play MP3 discs, its fitted without the surround!

I went to fit my Pioneer, oh dear, the stereo surround is part of the main faceplate holder not seperate!!!

Has anyone figured out a way around this yet?

Thanks to any replies....

Oh anyone know of a good Pioneer Head Unit that will fit if I cant shoe horn this in?

How do you mjean, the surround iss part of the unit? On my classic '98 UK car, it's seperate.

Mine's now on it's second Sony head unit, I just swapped my minidisc one for one that plays MP3 discs and allows me to use my Sony HD MP3 player in through a front socket.

As in the surround that clips off your Sony head unit is built in and screwed down on my Pioneer!!!

OK, so how does it come off? Are there holes or slots in the HU to remove it with special tools?

I think I'd be inclined to call in at an ICE installer, they'll whip it out for a couple of quid.

When I did my wife's Xantia, I sat on the local ICE installer's forecourt and did the job, even borrowed their tools and asked for advice when it didn't seem to be going right.
I HAD bought the new set off them though, Pioneer, and it plays MP3 and WMA discs. Cost me around £90.

getting the actual thing in and out is not the issue, its the faceplate holder on the pioneer being too bulky, the kenwood has a seperate surround on the stereo that clips off and the unit fits in fluch with the ash tray etc, the pioneer does not have an unclippable surround!!!

Didn't know if there was a different front available for Scooby owners or if someone had found a plausible work around.

Thanks for your help though.
