All with the thanks from the guys over on digital-car.co.uk.

Well I thought I would "freshen" the CarPC up for the forth coming 2006 show season..
So for the next few posts, I'll pop pictures up etc on what Iv'e been upto over winter.
They aim was to remove the CarPC from the boot and put it up near the driver somewhere.
Also to put some better hardware onboard and "test" some better software.
So here's some pictures after I "ripped out" all the computer etc etc and start to rebuild it all again.

Some pictures showing the subwoofer enclosure moved to the centre, an additional amp fitted, the power supply and a video amplifier.

This is the finished Boot install.
You can see that I have removed the computer case and centralised the sub and 15" screen.
Powered up pictures coming soon.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.
Some powered up shots from today.
New wallpaper
Computer and 4 port USB Hub:
Another view of the front screen:
OBDII software showing live gauges (Apologies for the focus, had problems with the camera):
Freedrive/Destinator 3:
Centrafuse -- media software:
Centrafuse again:
The Boot:
And that's it, I'm finished with it now (Thank god).
I may get round to doing some pictures at night which might show everything up a bit better.

Muddy,
That is excellent . I keep messing about with an in-car PC project but never seem to accomplish anything But now I've seen yours I'm almost motivated to give it another go. I especially like the OBDII guage display . Can you tell me what software you used for that and how difficult it was to set up?
TIA,
Steve

Craig that looks fantastic I'm really looking forward to a closer look at japfest.... the attention to detail is second to none.
Having the gauges displaying engine data adds a new perspective as well, I take it your plugged directly into the ECU ? it's suprising how much information you can pull from there.

top class mate, can't wait to see it at a show.
i'm about to start a instal in my 02 wrx, an was thinking about doing a computer install but i might be getting a pioneer avic for a decent price.
really good to see someone finish a job off properly, how did you get such a good finish on spraying your parts on your dash?)do it yourself or give it to a sprayer?)
i had mine in the body shop last week an was very close to asking to to spray up them bits for me but went against it because i was going to go for WR blue an then thought it would be tooo leary, but after seeing pics of yours again i think i might get them done.

Well done mate, what are you using for the OBD2 interface? I used the ELM with some success, but the update speed wasn't great.
If you're feeling brave, you could try reverse engineering the Subaru protocol used by PSI3, or ask PSI3 nicely for further info? Seem to be able to get more data out of that per second...

Chiark,
Before I even start thinking about the OBDII thing, do you know what protocol an MY00 UK Turbo uses (I seem to remember you were investigating it some time ago ). I've done a search and there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer (unless of course PSI3 are prepared to give away their trade secrets )
Or would I be urinating into the path of a stiff breeze?

MY00 is OBD2 ISO IIRC... I never tested it, but I believe that OBD2 is available on the 00. If you're ooop north you could try out the ELM interface I've got? Are you at Scoobyshootout?

Thanks for the commets guys.
The stuff sticking out of the centre consul is the CarPC motherboard. It's supposed to be like that, so it can be seen at shows.
I believe the OBDII interface I'm using is an ELM 323 chip.
Agree the refresh rate is'nt the best. there is a slight delay when I blip the throttle to actually reading the revs on the software as an example.
Overall I'm really pleased with it. With the software I can record data, check 1/4 mile times and even BHP figures if I wanted too.
I haven't really played about with it too much. It's something for me to do in the summer evening's
