Default Power a car stereo from plug socket?

HI, I have a spare car stereo and wanted to install it in the garage.
As there are plug sockets in the garage I was hoping there is a way to connect it up.

The question is, can it be done? Thanks.

Get a 12v power supply - something like this - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...o=231&doy=27m3

You will probably need the 10 Amp model (my head unit has a 10A fuse)

You could use a ham radio PSU which are usually 20-30 amp jobbies. I've got a couple which I used to use a few years back.

The question above states a 12v/15A head unit. My Sony 4x50w head has a 10A fuse so that is the maximum current it will draw and therefore can be powered by the 10A supply. Check the amp rating of yours...

Also, a 10A supply will power a 15A headunit just fine, as long as it's not turned up full with 'speakers on all outputs (i.e. front and rear left and rights)....
