Mp3 DVD Screens
Thinking of getting a in dash single din DVD/screen which also plays MP3.
But does anyone know of units that will play MP3 off DVD's aswell as CD's, quite like the idea of 4.7GB of music on one disk
According to the Kenwood catoluge they don't
Think Alpine's do by what it says in this link:
http://www.alpine-europe.com/content....IVA-D310R.htm
Anybody got one and tried it??
How about pioneer etc??

Dean,
Kenwood KVT-627, KVT-727 and KVT-827 are single DIN / screens that will play MP3, i have a KVT-827 fitted so will try MP3 from a DVD just to confirm.
You can demo if you are going to the Powerstation RR day later this month or are welcome to visit anytime.

It was seeing yours that made me want one. By the way the Brakes are working well, looking to upgrade the rears next.
Give it a try, but the catoluge suggest it will only work with cd's and with a max of 254 folders (albums)
Stilling thinking of having an ecu monitor off u aswell i'll have another look at your when i come up to powerstation.

Can now confirm that the Kenwood series do play MP3's off DVD despite what it says in the catoluge, i tried it in my local ICE shop on the Kenwood Double DIN unit (don't know the model), also on the KVT-627DVD, also tried the Alpine IVA-D310 which is the one i decided to go for in the end.

Dean,
I have just fitted (at the risk of being flamed!) a Sony MEX-R5 head unit in my 02. It plays all of my MP3's that I have burned onto a DVD. Have about 500 tracks on the one DVD. I think it looks good in the dash as well. Have the Forrester Pocket fitted underneath it. Have it hooked up with some Infinity door speakers and an Alpine SWD-1600 powered sub underneath the drivers seat (didn't want to go the route of a bloody great box in the boot!) The sound is great - not a PA system but sounds a million times better than the standard junk. The MEX-R5 can also be wirelessly hooked up to a compatible screen as well if you want to go the whole hog and watch DVD's as well. Hope this helps.
