Not heard of one, I don't think a hard drive would last too long with all the motion and vibration in a car. I recently bought a Sony MEX-R1 which plays DVD's, CD's etc and have put a shed load of MP3's on a DVD. Works a treat, although I've yet to work out how to seperate the albums into folders! A superb unit too, £185ish on ebay.

I've heard of ICE units which have SD or Multimedia card slots in (my brothers Audi has them), that's probably the closest you'll get- try a search on Google or the like...

My iPod's in the car most of the time, and it's fine - after all, they're portable units so vibration etc. shouldn't be an issue.

I don't know why there aren't more hard-disk head units out there.

There is the new sony unit http://www.hifichoice.co.uk/review_print.asp?ID=2589 but it only has a 20gb or so hdd. If you really like the idea of the Neo you should try and get hold of a 2nd hand Empeg/Rio Car which was a much better unit. You could try looking on the empeg bbs and see if anyone's selling

I've got a Kenwood Music Keg in my scoob boot with a 20GB hard drive. This is the dogs bollocks because it supports the best codecs i.e. FLAC, ogg, wma, mp3. It is so good that I have removed my CD multichanger from the boot as it is redundant and I can't remember when I last used the single disk player in the head unit.

So if you want to play true gapless music [dance music for instance] then it supports flawless gapless playback with .ogg or .FLAC

Pick one up on ebay for about £120.

The hard drives [DMS cartridges] are interchangable and upgradable to larger sizes. Largest at the moment is 120GB.

This product is also known as a Phatnoise Phatbox and info is here http://www.phatnoise.com
