Door Card Cut Or Not For Larger Speakers?

Door Card Cut Or Not For Larger Speakers?
I,ve read all the posts about the fitting of various front and rear speakers, such as infinity 6000c's, but it is not clear as to whether the door card needs to be cut or modified to fit in the new larger speakers and the spacers. Does the speaker fit behind the original grill on the door card or does it have to be cut away?? (MY05 STi).

It doesn't need to be cut away at all. However, there is a rubber flap thing behind the grill which I am not sure about (still!) - it may foul the 'speaker cone slightly.
If I can be bothered to take my door cards of again I'll check (I've got some dynamat waiting to go in anyway). Having said that, I appear to be the only one who is worried about this so maybe it's not an issue...

Hi
Same Car as me and I've fitted 6510's with 18mm spacers. No need to cut or modify the door cards for those speakers, but I did need to trim the speaker grill (next to the door handles) for the new tweeters to fit with a sharp stanley knife.
