Default MY95 WRX Radio Fuse keeps blowing

I have an MY95 Wrx with the standard Adzest double din unit fitted.
The 15amp fuse went last week after no problems since i bought the car 2 months ago.
Fitted a new one after a day trying to find the fuse PS it was fuse 17 in the internal panel.
The fuse lasted 2 days and has blown again?
Info is hard to come by, I assume a 15 amp is correct?
Anyone come accross this before?
What's the best solution?
A new unit if I can find a double din?
Bigger fuse? maybe the alarm has been fitted through this fuse?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That really is a needle in a haystack question, there are so many reasons it could be blowing fuses. Main culprits :-

Loose wire shorting to the chassis (power or speaker)
Problem with the unit itself
Something else linked to the same fuse

First things first check if anything else stops working if you pull the fuse for the radio, if so what? Can that be disconnected as a test. Don't turn the radio on for a few days (hard i know) does it still blow?

Maybe take the radio out and see if there is anything obvious. If it turns out to be the unit itself replace it. Its very easy to replace it with a single din + a something suitable to fill the gap , options are endless as to what you put in that gap, search the forum for 'single din' and you are bound to come up with tons of idea's.

Any further info let me know and i'll see what i can come up with.

P.s. DO NOT put a higher rated fuse in, there is a reason this one is blowing if you bypass that safety precaution you may find your carpet catching fire under your feet!

The fuse is blowing without the radio on?

Everything else is working as far as I can tell all the internal electrical items sunroof, windows, cig lighter etc.

The confusing thing is it’s been fine for 2 months perhaps the radio has gone?

I will try to disconnect the radio is I can sus out how to remove it correctly.

The last thing I did was mess with the minidisk/graphic equalizer unit settings

This wasn't being used previous so it maybe where the problem lies.

I need to find a cheap solution I believe the speakers are the weak point in the scoobs?

If the fuse was still blowing without the radio on it would be an indication tht the radio was not the problem.

Is the minidisk unit seperate to the head unit? this may indicate the problem being on the power led to the changer unit.

The speakers are a very week point in the scoobys, virtually any direct replacements will be an improvement. Infinity's are a common upgrade for the doors due to space restrictions (search ice for infinity to find reviews and preferred models) back shelf is purely a choice of how much work you are willing and confident to do, choices are a direct replacement from any reasonable brand or with work certain 6x9's can be persuaded to fit with work (again search ice for 6x9 or back/parcel shelf to read reviews, preferred models and hints on fitting)

Hope that all helps,

Tony.
