Talking Is there such a thing as "Wireless" ICE?

You know, like you have wireless home entertainment systems so you don't have to take up your carpets to lay the wires and wireless keyboards so the back of the pc doesn't look like a bush deep in the Amazon! etc.
Basically wouldn't it be easier to just install the hardware i.e head, speakers, subs amps etc and then via the head unit, configure it and hey presto, no faffing with wires, impedences, crossover wires, depth, ohms, heat sink, wire gauge etc
Has it been done, is it expensive or is the technology nowhere near good enough yet?

Think most wireless speakers work by radio waves so quality is pretty crap.

Quality is not an issue as it's digital 'radio' waves, not analogue.

But for a car I doubt it would be worth doing. Everything would still need a 12V supply (inc. individual speakers) so you wouldn't save a lot on wiring, and the 'decoders' would need to mounted somewhere......

*edit*
Forgot to mention each wireless speaker would needs it's own amplifier too....

Technology don't exist then

Remember they scoffed at the thought of a computer in every office 40 years ago
Tallk of one on every desk would have gotten folk locked up in them days

Actually yes there is

Basically install a "mini Mac" in to the dash board and flush in a 5" or 7" touch screen.

Then you use the Mini Macs wiresless broadband "free air" router in the boot.

This means you dont have to run any RCAs from the front of the car to the boot. All you do is run them a couple of inches from the "free air" device to the amps.

Now once all set up you can use the mini mac to watch movies, store hundreds of thousands of songs and generally use it as a full multimedia PC.

Now this is where it gets cool

You install the bluetooth software on the Minimac to work with your mobile phone and you can stand anywhere within 50 meters of the car and using your mobile phone you can change music or movie tracks and you can put the volume up and down without being in the car.

Thats about as wireless as you can get.

Tried it, done it, loved it!

Wouldn't it be easier installing some 'normal' ICE and just using the HU remote control? Not as 'cool' (nerd!) though, I admit (being nerdy too!)

Head units are a waste of time, and most flip out TV's

For the price you may as well get a full mac pc set up with touch screen.

Then you can run slide shows, and everything you can from your desk top, everything from games, mapping software, movies, songs etc..etc... with a HUGE hard drive.

In my saxo i actually run a kenwood flip out touchscreen with PS2 and DVD with 5 other TV's etc and it hasnt a scratch on the Mini Mac set up.

With Apple mac brining out their mini mac they brought computing to everyone with such ease from the desk top to the car with very little problems.

If you want to see this system working the supra we have put it in is almost finished and will be good to see later this year. (Its my mates car and its in association with www.audio-one.co.uk)

here is a taster photo:
