subaru stereo system improvements
I have an '03 WRX with the standard pants stereo system. I've heard just changing the speakers can improve things dramatically. Is this the case and what speakers should I be looking at??

matey,do yourself a favour,remove the speakers and replace with infinity's (5.25inch fronts/4 inch rears)
also take the head unit out,hit with hammer or something equally blunt and replace with a lovely alpine unit and a forester pocket(available from your local dealers)
to be fair the original headunit is garbage,it was the first thing to go on my03 sti

Im certainly interested; mine was skanked at the docks. It all depends on the price, rather like standard rear boxes after PPPs have been fitted..... Some people try to sell them for £200 and some people sell them for £20, guess which market Im in.....

Question for ethanrob. So presumably the forester alpine combo is a neat fit etc at wot sort of price from dealer? Do they also do the speakers. I was hoping to spend around £300 mark for summink decent although not necessarily a chavtastic mega bass special!

Lots of info, pictures etc. in the ICE section, of all places!

Yep, I now pretty much understand my engine. The stereo and speakers side of it I don't and can't be arsed. Have to get down Halfords. Dealer upgrades has got to be expensive way of doing it.

Apart from the ICE section, I'd recommend a dedicated ICE installer etc. to do the upgrade; I'm sure people will point you in the direction of a good one in your area if you ask in the right place, lol.
Halfords are 'probably' fine for standard installs (remove one single DIN headunit and replace with another), but I'm not sure they'll be that good when it comes to the scooby.
