Problem now is how do you get reception without the aerial being up?
Just a thought, have you got amps in your car? If so check the back of the head unit as some come with 2 remote leads, one each of the examples i have listed above, so make sure you disconnect the correct one or your amps wont work. If you only have one remote wire that is feeding amps and the aerial then there is probably a relay attached to it further down the line so you would have to find that and disconnect the aerial from the relay so that the realy can still feed your amps.
Sorry for the long post, i hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply. Dont have amps etc, the unit is a CD/DVD unit with fold out 6.5 inch screen. Always listen to MP3 etc, so never listen to the radio. Plus, i cant find the aerial adaptor in the shops, so wont listen to the radio!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Some top brand H/U's do have 2 remote outputs but one is for the power aerial ONLY as this is switched OFF when the radio is not in use, thus making the aerial retract when the radio is not in use. The other stays on whilst the H/U is on, this is for power amps and acc's.

Every time i power up the HU the aerial pops up!
Also, cant find the aerial socket on the HU or control unit and am getting sick of dismantling the dash to mess about with wires.
Oh, the things we do!

BonzWRX, is the stereo connected via a standard ISO connector?? if it is then you could disconnect the BLUE cable on the block with the red, black, yellow? cables on. This will stop the aerial popping up as it is the remote feed. Just make sure there is nothing else using this feed.
Can you get to the cables that are connected to the aerial itself(where is the aerial mounted?), this will be controlled by a relay probably built into the base of the aerial itself, could you disconnet these cables instead of the ones behind the H/U
PS if your in an doubt go to a local ICE dealer, i'm sure he could help you.

My local ice dealers are proper cowboys and i do not trust them! I will have a look at the ISO blocks over the next few days when i can find time. It is hooked up via ISO adaptors from the original ISO's. The aerial is on the back left wing.
