Default stoopid question - what's the best way to...

connect two speaker wires together?

I've been simply twisting them together and insulating with leccy tape - is this a pants idea? I ask because I'm getting some sound distortion/intereference and I'm thinking maybe the connections are it...

thanks all

The distortion/interference is probably not caused by the connections but it doesn't help, the best way is to solder the wires together or if you can't solder them then crimp them together but use a good crimper & not one of the cheap ones

I always use crimped-on bullet connectors, they are not as permanent as solder if you need to remove the speakers

The only downside of connections is that they tarnish, and this can allegedly affect the sound.

I've used solder to join wires where I have to, or tried not to join 'em at all!
