MY 97 DOOR SPEAKERS
#2
I fitted some 6" JL VR components in the front of my MY97 fitted straight in even the holes lined up. i think 5" may be too small In this case size matters.........although spacers etc could be constructed.

Size 160 or 165mm or 6.5inch all seem to fit. If you go for mounting depths well over 64mm you will need to make some MDF spacers. Can recommend Infinity 605CS £88 or JBL GT6.0c £72 but not heard latter. More expensive ones? - Focals 165?, Infinity Kappa, CD Technologies. Cheapo coax Kenwood KFCHQ167DB £72. 5" I think is too small and you will lose some of the LF extension - depends on whether you want a sub and what sort the sub is - if no sub or bandpass sub box get something that goes well at 50-80Hz - a lot don't. The Kenwoods do, but they are a bit harsh. The Infinitys do, but I think they may be better with an amp to get the best out of them. Even though search is disabled if you display the ICE forum say over 2 months you will find a lot more info - the threads are usually clear from their titles - at least in this forum !!???!

Like the other posts, I concur. The Scoob will take 6" (16cm) easily, however, going up to 6.5", some people have had the problems with the magnets 'scraping' on the power windows... normally rectified with some MDF spacers though.
I was told that the 5dr would only take 5 1/4" in the rears (ooer!), but this is rubbish (I heard this from a dealer!)
6" all round should do the trick if you're not too sure about ICE installs....
Next thing, you'll upgrading the wiring and then amps, then subs <aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!>
Dan ;-)
