Don't know if they fit in an STi but here are mine in my WRX.
If you do get one I would suggest that you get some industrial velcro as the stuff on them isn't strong enough.

Do you have a water bottle on the rear drivers side?

I don't have the intercooler water bottle as I have a std WRX. They will mould one if you have the time patience and trust in letting them have your car. Seemen like nice enough chaps when I went to their workshop.
You could just get the nearside one and mount the amp in a different part of the car. The only reason mine are that way round is due to the way the amp wiring was put in.
