STi 03 Stereo
Can you confirm something for me.
Are the stereos in these cars utter sh1te or is mine faulty?
If I pass 23 on the vol, which is not all that loudm the bass speakers flap like a pigeon on steroids and the there is no mid range to speak of at all?
Time to update, yet more money I am spending.
I wonder if there will ever be a day when I will stop spending on this car, I have only had it one week.

Stock headunit and speakers are crud pretty bad case of affairs when you consider how much the car is
An upgrade makes a huge difference, I've recently changed to a Sony headunit that I had lying around and some nice DLS front components, watch out with the front speakers though as the doors are not very deep, so you either need to get slim speakers or make spacers from 12mm MDF, do a search and you'll find plenty of info on what other people have done. In addition to this you'll need a harness adapter for the headunit and a blanking plate to change the double din slot to a single, you can get one of these from your local dealer, can't remember the part no but it is meant for the Legacy but fits fine.
John.

Is the spacer in the same silver/grey colour as the one in the car?

Spoke to Bulldog in Twyford, they recommend blanking off to a single height unit with a pocket/shelf underneath the head unit.
