Head Unit Recomendations
Hi,
Being a complete noob when it come to In car stuff, can anyone recomend and good head units what are good makes Alpine, Kenwood, Sony? or are they all about the same these days?
Requirements
Single Din
MP3 caperble
want one that the front revolved and covers the front (Is this what Kenwood call D-Mask? do other makes do this as well?)
Not bothered about fancy displays, if it has got this I must be able to adjust the brightness as I hate bright flashing lights !)
Budget of about £200
Thanks,
Paul

Ive always reted Kenwood, i have never had one go wrong on me yet!!!
Have a look http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/defa...ived_mfg=0:13+ , I think all Kenwwod displays are dimmable now, can't seem to be able to avoid the blue type displays.Think your going to have to pay more for D-Mask features though.

You'll not find cheaper than that for the 8027.
Looked at one in Halfords (for some ludicrous price) and I was very impressed. Thinking about getting one to replace the stock one in my 2005 WRX.

Either Alpine or Pioneer, running a Pioneer P77MP at the moment and its sweet as ****! What are you planning to run from the head unit speaker-wise mate?

Right thanks,
Does the front on that 8027 stay fliped down like in the pic?
Not thought about speakers yet just trying to get my head roud the head units,
I am open to more suggestions though !

If you can change speakers at the same time - the standard ones are so flippin' aweful, whatever you buy will sound pretty bad, and you'll think you've made a poor choice until you then change the speakers and realise what it was - in all WRX's the speakers are definately the weaker of the two links, the head unit coming close but not as bad....

one thing to look out for with a head-unit is to see if it plays WMAs. A few MP3 head-units dont play them and you will lose out in the long run. Ones listed in this thread are quite good. Im after one myself might get that PIO-DEHP80MP. Bloody sexy!
