Default Mask face plates.

Are kenwood the only company that do a headunit that has a face that completely flips round?

The car's a target enough as it is without having a headunit that screams "STEAL ME"! at people.

Question

What's wrong with ones that lift the face off entirely? I take mine off and hide it in the car.

Alcazar (the headunit's face, not my own, you understand?)

Invariable I'd forget one day. Or just be lazy and leave it in the car for 10 minutes whilst I'd nipped into a shop or something.

Obviously your smart criminal will look in and see the black mask and think "ah ha, that's a Kenwood", but from what I remember being told, they're difficult to get working again if they are stolen.

Do any of the other manufacturers offer decent anti-theft (other than just removing the face) technology?

I'm intending spending about £200-250 on a headunit, and it's between the Kenwood KDC-W8027, Pioneer P80MP, P8400MP, Sony F7700 or M8800.

Kenwood's are difficult to get decoded, I've lost my mask key and no one will touch the unit even though I've got proof of ownership and receipt's. Just hope I don't get a flat battery for some reason. Kenwood's are fairly reliable though, I've had no problems with my 8080R and Ive had it a few years now.

My mate has just got a Sony H/U(not sure on the model, it cost £350 though) which offers a very similar flip front to the kennys, I was not impressed with the sound quality (may have been his amp setup)or build quality, it looked VERY fragile with the face sticking out.
