HELP: Power to Sony HU in '94 VW Golf
Hi folks,
If anyone could help me with this, then it would be great!
I've just swapped the knackered old OE Sony headunit from my GF's '94 Golf and replaced it with a Sony M600-R (?) that I used to have in my Impreza. The problem arrises is that 90% of the time it has power when the ignition is off, and when the ignition is turned on, the power to the head unit goes off. Probably 10% of the time, the HU has power when the engine is running.
What do I do to remedy this?
Cheers,
Ben

A problem I've found with VW's (seen it with a few mk2 and mk3 Golfs)
The power is wired in a strange fashion. Try swapping the ignition switched 12v with the permanent 12v.
Failing that you need to get a multimeter in there to double check the wiring.
