Thumbs up I pod to ICE

A friend of mine has just got one of these babies and wants to connect it to his headunit. The unit has no cassette function, and does not have a front access aux input. He is checking with Toyota (Rav4 model) to see if a rear aux input is available on this headunit.
If not I would assume that a new headunit with aux is the answer, but I just wondered if anyone here could come up with an idea.

Many thanks

for the price you pay for the ipod and connector has no one thought of buyin a 100 pound dvd player buyin a dual lazer 8 gig disk and bangin 8 gig of mp3`s or videos on a disk (buy an optional screen 100 notes as well ) so for 200 u get a dvd player and a screen to flick through all ur files and tunes , looks better sounds better !!!!

maybe you do get better sound quality zerolight, but he's still on the factory setup, so it wont be that noticible for the extra money.

yes it will. u get a much better sound from a line out than thru an FM modulator. and you can get the kit from justkenwood for £89. i'm more than happy with the sound of CDs through my standard kit, and will be happy with CD-quality line out into the head unit. the FM modulators seriously drop the sound quality before transmission, which really does kill the sound. if all i can use is FM modulator, then I'd just stick with CD.

the dension website says it works (kenwood kit) on impreza's with double din units from 2001-on. so it should be fine. certainly, folks have installed a Kenwood 719MP changer to a std WRX head unit without any issues.

guess I'll need to be the guineapig then.

won't sound any better. but ur car will have a non standard headunit in it. its tempting enough for theives as it is, and i like the way it looks with a std double din in there. plus, i can take the ipod with me when i leave the car. 90 quid doesnt seem a lot to get a CD quality output into the headunit with a 40gb storage space.

the dvd headunit can go in the glove box , i know what u mean about thieves though !!!!!!
the dvd unit`s for 100 ull be pretty shocked as they do sound decent a mate of mine has his runnin through his stereo but got the dvd unit under his car seat so it seems like he has got absolute standard gear in his car , even the tvs in the visor`s are not noticable , and he only uses them when hes out of the area so no one knows he has got them in , im tempted just to put them in mine but im goin through the phaze next week it will be something else and where my mrs lives in salford , they `d rob absolute f555555 anything thats not glued down

just but the dvd player and whip it in the gluebox or under the seat ! dont tell anyone its there

Can anyone tell me who makes the std double din headunit in a UK MY04 WRX? Is it a Philips DC632 or an Addzest job?

The Alpine Ipod interface is around £69.99. Seems price fixed everywhere

Im getting a new Alpine H.U and Ipod Interface fitted into the scoob soon

Played with the interface last week, is brilliant. Works very well indeed!
