Post WR-1 staged ICE Upgrade

Hey,
Hopefully I will be receiving my WR-1 in the next couple of weeks. But the thought of keeping it under 4000 rpm is going to be very difficult. So I'm thinking of upgrading the sound system to try and keep me in 'cursing mode'. Whats it like standard? as bad as a uk 2000? Bering in mind the cost of the vehicle (ouch!) and the imminent quadrupling of my fuel bills, I'd like to do the upgrade in stages. What would be the 1st thing any of you would change?

The options I can see are:
Change the head-unit
add an amp
change the front components
add an amp + front components
add an amp and a sub (is the head unit able to run one?)
Any others suggestions?

Its been quite a few years since I've look into ICE upgrades so any advice on components would be really appreciated as well.

Oh I listen to a lot of RnB and hip hop but am also partial to the occasional dance track (ambient and trance)

Thanks
Anthony

It's as bad as the MY04 and just slightly better than MY00

I'd swap the headunit first. Then add and amp and upgrade the front speakers at the same time with good quality speaker cable and RCA cable.

You can then add a sub if the bass isn't enough for your hip hop/dance tracks. You need to check the headunit has level adjustment and output for a sub and decide if you want to buy a multi-channel amp to support either a sub input, rear speakers (or both) OR amp it seperately. It all depends on power that's required.

On my own car, I was happy with a new headunit, upgraded front speakers and a 2-channel amp just for the fronts alone. If I want to add a sub or rear speakers I'd need another amp or replace mine with one with more channels (4/5, for example). Some would say you get better results by adding multiple amps.

Cheers Stefan,
Yeah I think I'll change the head unit 1st.
Then some Infinity fount components (was happy with them in my old my98, can't argue with the pice---->Quality) and some sound deadening.
Then an Amp + Sub
Then..... maybe a DVD player + PS2, some neon's, more amps, more subs maybe a strobe or two?? LOL get-in a bit carried away so hold the strobe

Any recommended manufactures/ products and sites to view and maybe buy?

Watch this space as I`ll be installing my kit in my classic.(add me to your buddy list etc)
All the same ideas, methods will still apply for your car.
I have all the stuff ready to go in
Alpine 7893 mp3 HU-installed
Infinity comps-installed
Phoenix Gold Qx180 2 ch amp-
PG Qx900.1 Mono bass amp
Rockford HX2 10" sub.
The amps will live where the spare wheel sits and a Fibreglass box made to fit the boot.
Hope this helps.
