I have upgraded the standard head unit (Blaupunkt) and now I'm looking to upgrade the front speakers in my 99MY. Looking at Sony XS-A1724 16.6cm, JBL GTO-603 Mkii 16cm, Kenwood KFC 1666 16cm. All from Halfords as I have some vouchers to use up. Has anyone any comment on these re sound and ease of installation?

Many thanks in advance.

Cool

I've got the JBL's in my scoob, and have installed these in several of my friends cars.

They sound great, and are very easy to install.

Cool

Jon

I have JBLs in the front as well (largely based on what Jerry had posted on a similar thread a few months ago - cheers S.A.M!). Might be worth looking at the GT6 Component speakers. Standard fit, no need to drill extra holes and you also get separate tweeters as well. £85 +PP. Good value - and a vast improvement on the standard speakers (not hard I know).

I wasn't too bothered about spending a fortune on the stereo (I just listen to the exhaust ) and I reckon I will end up spending no more than £350 all in. I reckon the GT6s are pretty good value for money.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks guys,

i went for the JBL GTO-603s in the end and they fitted a treat. Sound is now much better, though perhaps a little bright. i will fiddle with the software Equalisation when i find the manual.

Would some sound deadening material help? If so, where is a good place to get some, preferably self adhesive.

Many thanks again. Jon
