damn my in car md player just died-other recommendations ?

My rather good looking cd/md pioneer unit in the car just died, so i'm looking to replace it asap.
It has to be capable of md + cd in one capacity or another, any recommendations?
I was thinking along the lines of a kenwood kmdps971r + a changer of some sort, also somewhere nice and cheap to buy it would be nice

I'd recommend the Kenwood unit, as I've got the 970 and it's spot on. 971 adds "D-Mask" (detachable mask) and has an improved display (more dots in the dot matrix). Sound is exactly the same.
3 pre-outs, independent high pass on front and rear, lo-pass on the nf output.
Changer: top of the line KDC-CPS85 is supposed to be good. I'm still using an ageing KDC-803, and get good results from that.
If you're in or around london, Andy in Citysounds on the Tottenham Court Road is excellent. Forget anywhere else on TCR, as these guys do know their stuff. They're BBG dealers, too, and BBG are quite picky about who they supply.
I should think that you can get the pair for 600 quid. You could go for a cheaper changer if that's too much.
Otherwise, try Car Audio Direct. I haven't used them, but they are supposed to be good and reliable. They want 280 for the changer and 360 for the head unit. I paid 350 for my head unit at Citysounds, and they would have cut a deal if I took the changer too.

*update* Just been into Citysounds, and they would definitely be able to cut a deal. He offered me the changer for 250...
Try 'em? Ask for Andy, as he knows his onions. (and car audio)

CAT in brentwood essex.
They are not normally that cheap, just that they wrote down the wrong price for me and agreed to honour what they'd written down
they did let me and a friend get them at that price though.
