Are there any devices so that I can send songs from my PC upstairs to a music system downstairs or send audio streams from shout cast wirelessly? Rather then having a rather long wire going into the aux channel?

Agreed - the one that I know on the market is the Squeezebox, from Slim devices. They blazed the trail with the Slimp3 so they have the pedigree.

This is on Creative Labs US site but I contacted them and it is supposed to be coming out over here. I asked a few weeks ago and was given a date of mid January. It's not on the UK website as yet but you could drop them a line if you are interested. They did say they'd call when it arrived if I wanted them to but I never took them up on that offer.

It's $249 but they didn't have UK pricing when I asked.
