Default What should I buy, looking at.....

Alpine 200W Amp & 12" Sub £200

Box £40- What difference does the size of the box make to the sound? Should I get a .75, 1.00 or 1.25 cubic metres. (I'm inclined to get the smallest)

Plus an Alpine 4-channel amp £150

ALP-MRPF240

Number of Channels: 4
RMS Power (4ohms): 40 W
RMS Power (2ohms): 50 W
Bridged RMS Power (4ohms): 100 W
Quoted Max Power (4ohms): 300 W
Speaker Level Inputs: Yes
Pre-amp Outputs: Yes
Built-In Crossovers: Yes
Bass Boost: Yes
Dimensions:

bridged to power two MB Quart 6.5" components £150

MBQ-DSE216
6.5 inch (17cm) 2 way component speaker kit, clear crossovers with 3 tweeter level settings, 13mm tweeters, power handling 120W, crossover frequency 4500Hz

I was gonna disconnect the rears. I already have an Apline Head Unit and 10-disc changer.

Is it a silly setup?

Will the speakers fit?

Should I be getting something else? I don't wanna be spending this much (£550), so don't tell me to spend any more

Could I get it any cheaper than www.caraudiodirect.co.uk?

I assume you can fit car audio without invalidating the warranty on a new scooby?

How much do you think fitting would cost?

Ok I`d recommend less power to the fronts, You wont be able to hear/feel the bass like the stup you described.
Id recommend 40- 50 w rms for the fronts and 500w rms at least for the sub.
Thats what I run in my car.
It might seem bass heavy to you, but the bass is much punchier and better controlled.
I can recommend some equipment if you want.
Hope this helps.

I'd try running the fronts from the HU first - I was pleasantly suprised with the quality of the amp in my alpine 7894. Spend the money you save on a better sub - I personally don't like the sound of Alpine speakers, but it's personal preference of course. Ideally the size of the box should be tuned to the driver you are using - if it's a sealed box this is a lot less critical. Generally speaking a smaller box will be 'punchier' while a bigger box will reach lower frequencies.

I'm chucking up to 200W into the fronts, and only 500W into the sub. It sounds loud enough.
