Toying with the idea of upgrading the speakers in my Impreza and could do with some ideas.

I was wondering if anyone has put 6X9s on the rear shelf?

Don't know where to start really so any help would be appreciated.

Yeah,

Fitted DLS 6x9 on the rear shelf and DLS 6's I think in the front doors as direct replacements. DLS are just a speaker manufacturer blinding sound even without an amp just running them off an Alpine HU. Total cost was £360 including new piece of carpet for the rear shelf. You will have to cut the rear shelf with a jigsaw or a nibbler which is a bit fiddly apart from that easy install!

I wouldn't put full range speakers in the rear of the car. It'll knacker your soundstage unless they're either filtered.

FOr more bass, the Genesis 6x9 SUBS (not full range) are pretty fantastic...

I would not cut metal on the parcel shelf to fit speakers. You can either create a false shelf out of MDF, or fit from below the shelf.

You may even put 5" rearfill speakers in. I did this,wasn“t any prob.
Altrough now I have taken them out because it destroyed my stage. I let the holes open so that the subwoofer is better feelable...
