Hope someone can shed some light.....

Ive got a my01 with double-din cd. Wanted to add a changer so I bought a used Kenwood KDC-C461(6 disc).
I have wired it in but all I am getting is power(to remove/change disks) Cant get anything from head unit. ie when I press "cgr" nothing happens.

Anyone got any ideas?

Oh, forgot to say I seen the changer working in its previous home, so its ok.

Kenwood is odd with changers. The head unit needs to see the changer from cold, so you may need to disconnect the power to the head unit in order for the head unit to "reboot" and acknowledge the changer.

When I plugged my Kenwood changer into back of double din unit in MY01, it worked straight way. No problems at all. Other than connecting the single cable, it worked like a dream.

I think mine is a 465 not a 461, have a search on here to see if there are any compatibility issues.

Edited to add - I never disconnected the head unit while doing this.

Have you any disks in it? And are they the right way up (my pioneer changer used to be backwards to this unit).

Sorry, dumb I know, but I had to ask.

JTM, bad news i'm afraid. I just spoke to a man in the know and he says it won't work because Kenwood "changed the data" about the time I bought so it definately won't work in your car. I will buy it back from you if you want no problem at all!!!

For anyone whos intrested, apparently if it doesnt have a o/n switch the data stream's not compatable.
