i was thinking of buying one of these. got quoted £1020, but i have a few questions.

it will play dvd -r of my backed up movies but with original dvd discs this unit plays region 2 only. is there anyway to make this unit region free.

also is there anyway to get this unit to play mp3s using a dvd -r as opposed to a blank cd. i have tried and it doesn't like the format when using a dvd-r, it keeps expecting a movie. i have a blank dvd-r with 4.5 gig worth of mp3s (read shed load) but this unit just refused to play. the £30 player that i bought from amazon plays it no probs. ahh well.

any replies greatly appreciated.

i got it.,..

if u make ur back ups multi region (i,.e. region 0) it will play them.

No such luck with the mp3's from DVD's i wanted this aswell...

I have the same pioneer unit and theres no way you can get a dvd-r full of mp3's to play as the unit will think its a dvd movie.

Although you can use nero express to auth a dvd using a screen saver or image of your choice and add mp3's which will paly, it's like making a menu that you get on normall dvd movies, how many mp3's you can fit on a dvd-r I dont know.

You can download a free demo version of nero 6 from the nero web site, you will also need the mpeg-2 plug in, this isnt for download, you have to pay for it, but i do have this and can email it to anybody who wants it.
