Question

I've fitted a new head unit (VDO CD3300) that has some useful features including speed dependant volume control. My Seat Ibiza had this and wanted to enable it in the Scooby - the sound level reduces as you slow for traffic lights, etc.

However, Scoobys don't have a dedicated speed pulse connector for the audio and you have to go looking for it.

One local dealer suggested a green/black wire connecting to ECU (Pin-1 of a multi-block connector). I found this and it seemed to do the trick. But... I have now discovered it is a rev-counter pulse, rather than a speed pulse, so it ain't working as it should (since speed calibration is different depending on the selected gear)...!

Anybody out there know if there is another wire in the ECU connector(s) that would be the correct speed-pulse wire?? Or do I need to go looking behind the speedo, etc???

Any help appreciated...

Thumbs up

Thanks John,

Unfortunately, the PDF file looks to be unavailable on the XOOM web-site...! I don't suppose you have a downloaded copy you could send me direct?

John,

Many thanks for your effort.

Pin-26 is the one that Subaru Technical said as well - the wire if GY (Green/Yellow). I tried it last night and, although better than the Green/Black wire I was told to try by my ICE installer, the GY wire still seems to be related to the rev counter to an extent.

Never mind - I'll go for a more permanent connection to that wire tonight and work with it for a while to see how useful it is going to be.

Thanks again for your help.

Ray...
