Anyone know if there are any aftermarket (pref 10/12 disc) CD autochangers compatible with the standard MY03 WRX head unit? I don't really want to pay through the nose for a Subaru 6 disc unit. Thanks.

Any kenwood unit will do - 6 or 10 disc.

Chiark,

Does this mean that the standard head unit is made by Kenwood? If so, would I be correct in assuming it will use a direct cable connection, and the changer can be controlled by buttons on the head unit (no extra control box required)?

Cheers, Derek.

yup, the standard unit is made by kenwood. They have no shame, they even put their name on the bottom of it

You're right: all you do is push the src button (or cd button, or whatever it is - mine was only in for a week before it was replaced) then you control it as you would the Subaru changer. The subaru changer is just rebadged and overpriced IMHO

Chiark,

Is there a connector for the Changer already there in the boot, as in pre-wired??

Or does a cable need to be run from boot to HU?

A friend has found me the Kenwood KDC-C465 changer (as supplied by your dealer) for £89 brand new!!! Just need to buy the mounting bracket and cabling I guess.

You need the cable, and you need to run the cable. It'll take ten minutes - just take the rear seat base out (2 bolts), a bit of trim down the side (poppers) and you're away

You can get changers cheaper than that online IIRC...

According to my local Subaru dealer, the 6 disc changer will also fit under the passenger seat. Dunno about the 10 disc one though.

Bought an MP3 headunit so I've no need for my Kenwood 10 disk changer. Make me an offer and it's yours.

I want to fit my kenwood changer to my STi8 but does anyone know how to get the center trim pannel off so I can get to the back of the radio.

It looks as if it pulls off, but I dont want to break it. Anyone help
