Question

one for the ICE gurus...

colleague with broken Ford RDS7000 system - 6 stacker CD player is
giving error messages -
questions are:

is there anywhere (esp NW england) that can do repairs?

are all cd units controlled/wired the same way (DIN?) - unit appears
to have about an 18 pin connector - will any unit work with the
existing Ford head unit???

all answers gratefully received

I'm not well qualified to answer this but as you've had no other reply i'll offer this tale of woe:-

I was replacing the standard head with an older Blaupunkt one with 10 disc cd changer. as you say, the connectors look the same and i couldn't resist trying the changer with the original head. Oh dear - one blown left channel in the changer. I never bothered to try to get it repaired and bought a new package from Edworthys.

Hope this helps a little.

Paul,

Alpine, Kenwood, Panasonic and Sony will all work with the Ford 7000RDS head unit with the addition of an interface which I can supply. These cost £70+ vat. I can supply the Sony changers for £100 + vat. If you need any more assistance please call me on 01793 772299
