MY03 Single DIN Pics
#1
Anyone got any pics of Single din installs for MY03 (or earlier if they have the double din std unit.) and details of the conversion/blanking plate used.
I'm keen to see what the different possible options look like.
Thanks

Here goes, my first try at adding pictures!
If you can see them sorry for the quality I was messing about with my camera settings!
This is using a standard part from Subaru, they call it a sunglasses compartment. Not to bad to fit and in my opinion looks better than the double din rubbish as standard. You will also need an adaptor from Autoleads for any other stereo unless you fancy butchering you wiring loom!
Hope this helps!

First attempt at posting a pic.
this is my my03 wrx with a Blaupunkt MP72 Single CD MP3 with SD card head unit.
and a IDC-A09 in dash cd changer.
The titan silver suround colour matches the my03 wrx dash exactly, looks like it is oem rather than a upgrade unit.
edited for 2nd attempt at piccy post

Am I right in thinking MP3s can only be played from the CD in the head unit and not CDs in the autochanger ?
Found this head unit today which looks nice in pictures, need to start looking at real units to check the match with the trim. (Also need the actual car of course . 3 days and counting...)
I really cant be doing with the full animated light show that now seems so popular (although the one above seems to have that behind anyway)

I've got the same unit fitted in my 02 STi. See here for some pictures...

I'm very pleased with the sound qality. Plays mp3 cds, good radio, dab compatible, excellent sound which is pretty configurable to match your acoustics / speakers etc, and it blends in really well with the rest of the car. The only downside is you have to leave off the clip-on trim around the unit (it doesn't fit otherwise).

Thanks . Was a bit worried when you said you had to remove the bezel, but by the looks of the pictures you'd never know.
Do you have an autochanger aswell ? if so will it play MP3s off the autochanger disks ?
Do you have steering wheel/column mount controls ?
Just sold my MY95 which had a sony autochanger and steering column mounted joystick and would hate to lose the convenience.
Thanks !

Well it does come with a remote, but I've never used it so I can't really comment on how good it is. If memory serves however, it's just one of those wrap around the steering wheel type rather than one that attaches to the column.
I've got a changer attached, but it only plays cds. I don't think pioneer do an mp3 changer, but I may be mistaken...
Actually you don't remove the bezel, you just never attach it
Cheers,
Iain

I have never tried playing mp3's in the cd changer. From memory I dont think it is supported with the IDC.
to be honest with a 256mb SD card and a 700mb CD in the slot all with MP3 thats pretty much all the music I have on MP3 at the moment.
With the secs monitor is it posible to put that in the cubby hole where the clock goes in a my02/03 like the classsic scoobies, as im looking at Autometer gauges at the moment but the secs does look better.
