My newly acquired '95 WRX came with a DVD-R player fitted and everything it needs to work but ... no screen - this seems to have gone walkies at some point.
What would I need to get this to work in the UK - I've been told that it's no use at all as the Japanese TV screens are different to the UK (and the rest of the world even ?) - is this due to us operating PAL screens and them something else ?

Japan use the NTSC format for TV broadcasts, but most screens support both NTSC & PAL, so this would not be a major issue. The biggest potential problem you may encounter will be if the machine is locked to the japanese dvd region, in which case it will only work with japanese dvds.

Ok cheers for that - I'll see if I can get hold of a screen to test the player with. Wonder if it can be hacked to be multi-region !?

Japan is Region 2, like the UK, so it shouldnt be an issue.. Wot is important is for you to find out if the player supports PAL.

I'll try and check out the exact model number and see if I can identify whether it's PAL compatible.
