advice on speakers??
whats the best gear to put in me scoob? got an my00 and was thinking about Audiobahn components, 6x9's, subs and amps.
read a bit about them and it seems to be good quality gear. i'm after a better sound quality rather than just mega bass, but it would need to be wound up at times!!!
any help would be appreciated,
gav..

Audiobahn - mmmm. Sound quality is a subjective matter, so what suits one person won't another. Never heard them so I cant comment. But in terms of build quality, I heard they weren't up to much. An Ice dealer I used to go to quit selling Audiobahns after too many "warranty problems". I dont know if this is true, but thought you should know. They do look pretty and impressive visually I have to admit.
With speakers, installation is key, so make sure whichever speaker you buy fits. If you dont know, dont buy mail order. It will just add to grief if it doesnt fit. Find a friendly ice dealer in mancunia who wont try and rip you off.
Are you going to use the amps to power the 6x9's, or just the sub? If you are going to use the head unit, dont be seduced by huge power ratings on the box.
As far as 6"x9"s go, I am an Alpine fan, and I like their new SPS 690A's. They are 3way, and my mate bought one for £79 recently. They sounded gr8 in his car, my kind of sound, fast, attacking, lively, without sounding harsh.
Good Luck

Good point - Spend most of your money on the front components. They are the most vital part of your system. You dont need 6x9's if you are going to buy a sub, but.. How often will you remove the sub for boot space? I have 6x9's in the back so that when i do remove the sub, I've still got some bass.
Its all a matter of taste and how practical it needs to be.

cheers for the advice guys, i'll look into the audiobahn warranty thing a little more. i know a guy who has an ICE dealership in town so i'll go for his advice. i just think the audiobahn gear looks the buisness!! but sound is more important.
the guy who had the car before me had a good system in it, he had all the doors and boot sound deadened so thats a good start!!
not sure wheather to go for it and have an amp for the sub and another for the components with crossovers and the lot!!

Not suprising that they recommended them - Prestige are owned by the same people that run millenium audio, the distributors of DLS and Diamond in the UK.
DLS and Diamond do make good stuff - not so keen on Diamond components, bit too bright for me, but their subs are good.
