I'm intending to buy the parts to convert the UK spec single-DIN dash to double-DIN.
If anyone else is interested have a look here as I intend to buy the parts as a kind of group-buy for several scoobynetters to save shipping cost (shipping is more than double the cost of parts if only buying one set of parts).
Cheers.

Main reason I don't want to use the glovebox thing at the top is so that I can add gauges as well at a later date.
I will get the parts from the US, it seems that's the only place to get them for a reasonable price - the breakers in this country are looking in the region of £50 for parts out of a crashed car which may have signs of wear/damage etc. We can get brand new parts for half that price!

So it is for a SECS unit? Also, where in the US will you get the parts from? AFAIK 1stSubaru parts do not send outside of the US anymore, I was probably the last person they dealt with and since there were quite some problems with shipping (teach the American ppl that there other countries out there) they stopped overseas shipping.
Anyway, good luck

Yeah they will ship overseas, I placed an order with them about a month back and asked them to contact me with shipping details before completing the order.
The response was they would only use a certain carrier due to past problems (probably yours!) meaning shipping was nearly $60 for around $20 worth of parts . Hence why I decided it's only going to be worthwhile if I can get 3 or 4 people to greatly reduce shipping charge per person.
Personally I'm not after one for a SECS unit cos my car has MY98 ECU and doesn't work with SECS yet, but I have a similar thing which is slightly less featured designed by AndrewC that I want to mount above the radio. It's currently in a plastic box so I will buy a black DIN blanking plate and cut it out as required to fit the LCD and buttons. Keeps it subtle as well with no labels etc.
