Question

I have a pair of Infinity Kappa 693 speakers which I'm mounting in the rear parcel shelf. Only problem is I've lost the grills. I've tried Halfords and Maplins so far but they only seem to sell round speaker grills. Anybody know where I can get some oval (6"x9") grills from ?

Fit em to the underside of the shelf and recover the top of the shelf and no need for speaker grills

To do that I would have to take a saw to the metal of the parcel shelf in order to enlarge the existing holes. Which is a lot of hassle. And I wouldn't then be able to refit the original speakers at a later date.

Dropping them in from the top and using a spacer was a much neater way to do it I thought...

Sorry, but I am not going to buy a set of speakers just to get the grills. Maplins do sell flat sheets of speaker grill material. If I can't find anywhere to get some proper grills from then I will try that and see what it looks like.

Mount the speakers underneith the parcel shelf in the boot as I did with my 6x9's and you don't have to cut out any metal for them to fit. You can also keep the original round speaker grills on and you can't see whats under them.

The new speakers are deeper than the original ones. I don't really want them sticking out too far into the boot area. More chance of them getting bashed. Besides, if you don't cut any metal then the speakers must be partially obscured by the parcel shelf as the original holes are not 6x9 ovals...
