Well, speakers are done, now I have a Blaupunkt Bremen RCM127 and a F07 changer. It's a bit old but the sound quality is that good that I'm fitting it to the Scooby (MY02)

The dimensions of the changer are 280x170x75. It's too big to fit unobtrusively in to the boot; under the rear parcel shelf cuts down the loading area so it's the passenger seat.

I've read Nicks faq which are great and am about to follow them but I've a couple of questions

Am I likely to pierce anything by using self tappers on the floor pan in this area?

Will taping up the heating ducts under the seat protect the unit effectively?

Will taping them up reduce the air circulation noticeably?

Self tappers shouldn't go near anything, but as always check twice before doing anything, particularly if you have anything after market in there like alarms or trackers.

Taping up the ducting works fine. It's very unlikely that failing to tape up the ducts would matter.

And it just stops the rear passengers from getting warm tootsies

Rather academic now as the headunit doesn't fit - it has a front that is not removeable and is too wide to fit through the console surround. Obviously the unit cannot be slid home with the surround in place because the unit itself is standard size and is too big for the aperture. Shame cos it's £1200 worth of equipment.

Best get shopping....

I have used Sikaflex in the past. Just make sure that the mounting brackets are pressed down firmly. I used lead fishing wieghts (2lb)

My cd changer is fixed down with a good dose of velcro (don't like drilling floor pans!!!), in fact the whole bottom of the changer is cover in self adhesive velcro, has not skipped or moved since i fitted it(kenwood model), fitted under drivers seat, gets the odd boot but copes with it well. Did not tape up the vents under seat, no problems.
