Hi there

Does anyone know if the Infinity Kappas (6x9") will fit in to the back shelf of an 03 WRX Saloon? I have had a look and there seems to be a fair sized hole but the offside one has some electrical stuff running through the middle (aerial or heated window I assume).

Any help much appreciated. I loved these speakers in my old Golf.

Cheers

Dave

I don't know for certain, but I suspect you'd not quite fit to the off-side. I relocated the aerial related parted OK and fitted a pair of Infinity 605cs component woofers into the hole in my MY02 (I believe the shelf is the same as the 03). These were very tight in one dimension, with just under an inch either side to spare in the other - i.e just under 9".

However, if you try them and find they don't quite fit, you could make up a spacer to mount them underneath the shelf firing through the holes - I think Chiark mentioned someone else doing this with some success.

It's the aerial box IIRC. You can reposition it.

You may find 6x9s fit, you may find that they don't. For stealth reasons, you might want to mount 'em from underneath the shelf.

Beat you to it Nick - you're obviously getting slow in your old age! At least the answers agreed!

have you considered genesis' 6*9 subs rather than the conventional coax to get a better soundstage with good fronts???

I bought some 6x9's (Sony) for my STi8, from an internet site. I telephoned them to make sure they would fit and was told - "NOT A PROBLEM"
Well they lied. Took the car to have the speakers changed, an amp installed and head unit changed - low and behold the 6x9's will not fit. It is not the aerial box that is the problem - the holes just aren't big enough.

Going to keep them anyway for the wife's car.

Hope this helps.

Simon

Have to agree with the genesis 6x9 sub route. I've not yet heard them, but a chap with a Mini is blown away by them, and is playing "hunt the sub" in the car

This will also leave you a front soundstage... However, if you're convinced you want full range in the back, you can still run 4" in the doors?

These Genesis sub 6x9s do sound like a good idea. Does anyone have a url for them?

Cheers

Not yet on their website - I'll try to find out more... They're being delayed by production if I am correctly informed...

i heard them in gordon's demo mini at genesis a few weeks back. Good all round response, not the depth that a 10" or more gives, but accurate. Best give him a bell at genesis. Had the sp up to 139db - very good for 6*9. They're 150 quid fyi
